Reporting to the restaurant supervisors, the host or hostess plays a crucial role in welcoming and guiding customers within our establishment. As the first person customers encounter, the host or hostess embodies the image of our company by providing a warm and professional welcome. Responsible for ensuring an exceptional customer experience from the first contact, the host or hostess contributes to creating a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. By closely collaborating with the service team, the host or hostess ensures a smooth transition between customers’ arrival and their seating at their table, thus playing an essential role in the overall success of our establishment.
Main Responsibilities:
- Greet customers upon arrival and escort them to their table.
- Provide information about the menu, daily specials, and ongoing promotions.
- Take reservations by phone, online, or in person and accurately record them.
- Organize waiting lines and manage customer wait times.
- Coordinate with the service team to ensure tables are prepared and cleaned efficiently.
- Respond to customer requests and resolve issues in a professional and courteous manner.
- Maintain clear and fluid communication with other staff members to ensure efficient service.
- Maintain a clean and organized environment in the reception and seating area.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a host/hostess.
- Greet guests warmly and personally.
- Take and confirm guest reservations.
- Assign tables to guests.
- Follow hygiene and cleanliness standards and procedures.
- Adhere to Marriott and company standards.
- Sales and customer service skills.
- Professional attitudes and behaviors such as good memory, verbal communication skills, stress tolerance, and facial recognition.
- Knowledge of the local area and tourist points of interest.
- Familiarity with the OpenTable system.
- Bilingual in French and English, as we serve an international clientele.
- Experience in hosting in high-volume restaurants/terraces.
- Crowd and stress management skills.
- Ability to stand for long hours.
- Provide impeccable customer service.
Languages: Bilingualism (French and English) in both spoken and written form is required for this position, as we serve an international clientele.
