This iconic Montreal hotel was completely renovated in 2021, with 36 floors, 614 rooms, 13 suites, 25 meeting rooms, and can accommodate up to 1,000 guests. Offering support to the department director three days a week, this position manages the administration, including but not limited to: inventory, purchasing, payroll, as well as supervising the team in the director’s absence. Responsible for certain technical aspects of the building, the technical service coordinator is an important member of the company’s management team. In general, this position is also responsible for assisting in training, recruitment, occupational health and safety, as well as helping the director with various tasks.

Long-term planning and updating standards and procedures are challenges the holder of this position will face. As the industry is ever-changing, the responsibilities of this position will evolve accordingly.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Determine personnel needs and participate in the recruitment process;
  • Assist in managing the technical service department staff – hiring, scheduling, training, and evaluations;
  • Ensure a safe and efficient operational environment;
  • Obtain quotes for purchases, prepare purchase orders, and follow up on deliveries;
  • Assign tasks on a daily basis;
  • Responsible, along with the technical service director, for fire prevention training and must conduct the training;

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in a similar position in a unionized environment
  • Advanced knowledge of computer applications, including but not limited to Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of health and safety requirements (OHS)
  • Knowledge of operational aspects and procedures of the mechanical room is an asset
  • Knowledge of all water treatment systems is an asset
  • Organizational skills, ability to manage priorities, and the ability to provide excellent customer service;
  • Ability to maintain lasting business relationships with other departments and suppliers;
  • Knowledge of Honeywell’s EBI software is an asset
  • Knowledge of provincial and federal laws and regulations
  • Fully bilingual, both written and spoken (French and English)
